Loose Moose History

Loose Moose was founded in 1994 by producer Glenn Holberton and BAFTA award winning director/animator Ken Lidster. Director/animator Ange Palethorpe joined in 1995, both graduates of the UK National Film and TV School.

In the UK, the company is renowned for its work with Lowe Worldwide (London), on the successful campaign for Peperami, and more recently for using the Camberwick Green character 'Windy Miller' in a new campaign for Quaker Oats, through Abbott Mead Vickers:BBDO (London).

Loose Moose is best known in America for its work on the award-winning campaign for Pepsi-Lipton BRISK Ice Tea, created for J. Walter Thompson (New York). The commercials use stop-motion animation to present celebrities like Sylvester Stallone, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Elvis Presley, Bruce Lee and The Karate Kid as in a series of iconic black and white cameos.

In early 1995, Loose Moose designed the Energizer battery man for George Patterson Bates (Sydney). The character was taken up and used around the world in territories as diverse as Europe, Russia, South American, India, Africa, Middle East, the Far East and Australasia. Loose Moose produced over a dozen commercials for this worldwide audience.

In 2002, working with FCB (New York), Loose Moose produced 'Bus' the first in the highly successful Chips Ahoy! campaign. Since then, Loose Moose has designed a cast of more than twenty different characters used throughout the campaign, which continues to date with 14 commercials produced in the first 4 years.

Between commercials, Ken Lidster wrote and directed "Interrogating Ernie", a short film in which a hardened New York cop browbeats Ernie, a street-smart dinosaur with attitude about the real reason for dinosaur extinction.

Ange Palethorpe directed and animated "Thunder Pig", a Loose Moose/Vanguard Films production for Nickelodeon, New York. Based on characters created by Keith Graves, with a story by Keith Graves and Rob Moreland - Thunder Pig and his long suffering sidekick, Leon managed to visit the barber, save the world and still get home in time for Pizza!

More recently Loose Moose has designed and produced the new Apple Jacks campaign for Kelloggs North America through Leo Burnett (Chicago) featuring the characters 'CinnaMon' and 'Apple'.

In it's 12 year history Loose Moose has produced 7 major campaigns, more than 80 commercials, 3 short films and 2 music promos.
